In late 2011, HP and AMD released five new HP ProLiant G7 servers. These servers now include the latest scale-up AMD Opteron™ 6200 series processors, featuring a 16-core x86 processor claiming up to 35% greater performance and up to 33% more cores. The ProLiant G7 servers offer more scalability, efficiency, and performance than previous versions.

Five New Models of HP ProLiant G7 Servers

The five new HP ProLiant G7 servers include the ProLiant DL585 G7, DL385 G7, DL165 G7, BL685c G7, and BL465c G7. For the growing data center, consider the ProLiant DL585 G7 server, great for virtualization and consolidation environments. This model is available with a 16, 12, or 8 core processor, 1 TB of memory, and 48 DIMM slots for memory. The DL585 G7 is great for web applications, mail server applications, as well as ESX (VMWare Elastic Sky X) and EBS (Oracle E-Business Suite) applications, along with many others.

If you are looking to use server-based computing applications, grid computing applications, and various cluster deployments, consider the DL165 G7 server. It fits up to 8 hard drives, has 384 GB of memory, 24 DIMM slots, and a high efficiency power supply for helping reduce energy costs.

The HP ProLiant G7 servers include the HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO 3) server management tool, which enables remote monitoring to help reduce maintenance costs. In addition, the ProLiant G7 servers now offer HP Virtual Connect to enable clients to easily connect servers and virtual machines to almost any network.
